Heavenly Neighborhood
Heavenly Neighborhood, one of the peripheral districts of Istanbul. It's a place where there's a lot of dancing, music, and love. The most beautiful girls, the most mischievous young men, and the most charming people live here. In this neighborhood, the rose-colored dancer Sultan and the burnt-out violinist Ferhat are madly in love with each other, but their love is being hindered by a long-standing enmity between their families. Sultan's mother, the bag maker Pembe, and Ferhat's father, the bagpipe player Yunus, were also bound together by a great love years ago; but this enmity has also ruined their happiness.

5.3/10★★★☆☆ 5.3Heavenly Neighborhood brings to the stage a corner district filled with dance and love, far from Istanbul's crowded streets; the story, set in the shadow of the passionate prohibition between Sultan and Ferhat, deals with the centuries-old enmity between two families. The 2004 series, with the gathering of names like Melek Baykal, Çağla Şıkel, and Alişan, lights up the set, but the "enemies in the family" theme at the heart of the script can sometimes evoke a sense of weariness. The director's crafted atmosphere, depicting the vibrant rituals of the neighborhood and the inner worlds of the characters, sometimes veers into overly melodramatic dialogue; this can disrupt the natural flow of the story. Though the actors' performances support emotional peaks, the depth and originality of the treated subject don't seem to bring a fresh breeze as expected.
