Danny Glover

Danny Glover (born July 22, 1946) is an American actor, film director, and political activist. He is best known for sharing the leading role in the "Lethal Weapon" film series as Sergeant Roger Murtaugh. Glover had various roles in film, theater, and television. He played the husband of Celie, the character portrayed by Whoopi Goldberg, in the famous literary adaptation "The Color Purple," and he portrayed Corporal James McFee in the film "Witness." He also starred in other films such as "Cry Freedom," "Predator 2," "The Heavenly Kid," and "Dumbo's Descent Operation." He won the Independent Spirit Award for Best Male Lead for his role in "Cry Freedom," directed by Charles Burnett. Additionally, he took on significant supporting roles in films such as "Silverado," "Witness," "Rage in Harlem," "Dreamgirls," "Shooter," "Death at a Funeral," "Beyond the Lights," "I'm Sorry," "The Last Black Man in San Francisco," "The Man Who Wouldn't Die," "The Lone Ranger," and "Jumanji: The Next Level." Glover first earned the top billing in "Predator 2," which is a sequel to the science fiction action film "Predator." Throughout his career, he also appeared in several minor roles, such as in Michael Jackson's 1987 music video "Liberty's Child." In 1994, he made his directorial debut with the short film "Override" on the Showtime channel. Again in 1994, Glover and actor Ben Guillory founded the Robey Theatre Company, which focuses on theaters by and about African Americans in Los Angeles.
