J.D. Evermore

J.D. was born on the day Richard Nixon was elected president, in the town of Greenville Delta in Mississippi (also the birthplace of Jim Henson, the creator of the Muppets). Of Irish-French-German-Cherokee-Chickasaw descent, he is the eldest of seven siblings and attended 17 different schools (public and private) between his mother and father. His great-great-great-uncle was Horace Mann, the founder of the American public school system. His father (Puddin - yes, that's what they call him) is a miner/artist/amateur archaeologist and inventor. His mother (Sally) had many professions, including being a concert organizer and owner of a country/western night club called The Headless Horseman; J.D. spent many school nights backstage and on stage with names like Hank Williams, Jr., Juice Newton, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Paycheck, David Allen Coe, Ray Price and others during his early childhood. After briefly attending college, working for 15 months at the Marine Corps in 29 Palms, California, and hanging out with some actors in Los Angeles, J.D. decided to give acting a chance. His only experience with acting was playing the Prince in the pre-school production of The Nutcracker and being kicked out of the final performance of Oklahoma for drinking beer before the second rehearsal with a friend. After the Marines, he returned to Mississippi and worked as a debt collector at his mother's educational agency. After hating the job for a year, he decided to go back to college and earn a theater degree from the University of Southern Mississippi. He knew that when he was on stage in college, the thing he had to do was act. In his second year of theater, he became one of 20 finalists selected in the state to attend SETC (Southeastern Theater Conference). In 1995, a friend offered J.D. $1,000 to come to Los Angeles and play the leading role in the play "Dylan's Ghost" at the Morgan-Wixson Theater in Santa Monica. J.D. accepted the offer and left university before graduation and since then has been moving between Hollywood, California, Austin, Texas, and Oxford, Mississippi, where he has just completed writing and directing his first independent feature film, Glorious Mail (2005). Despite appearing on the short-lived competition show Hollywood Showdown with Todd Newton and winning approximately $12,000, his friends like to say he's almost like a lucky gunfighter. The main reason for this is that he has come very close to landing leading roles in many big films and is usually the second choice of the director. In 2004, when he bought a $100 lottery ticket, his luck was right again and he became the 1.
