Rene Russo

Rene Marie Russo (born February 17, 1954) is an American actress and former model. She began her career in the 1970s as a fashion model and appeared on the covers of magazines such as Vogue and Cosmopolitan. Her film debut was in the comedy Major League in 1989, and throughout the 1990s she gained international fame in a series of thriller and action films; these include Die Hard: With Love (1992), The Long Kiss Goodnight (1993), The Net (1995), Get Shorty (1995), The Negotiator (1996), Die Hard: With Love 4 (1998), and Thomas Crown Affair (1999). After starring in the family comedy Yours, Mine & Ours (2005), Russo took a five-year break from acting. She returned to the screen as the mother of the main character, Frigga, in the superhero film Thor (2011); she reprised this role in Thor: The Dark World (2013) and Avengers: Endgame (2019). Russo appeared in the acclaimed psychological thriller film Nightcrawler (2014) and won the Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actress and was nominated for the BAFTA Award for Best Supporting Actress for this role. She also appeared in the films Intern (2015), Just Getting Started (2017), and Velvet Buzzsaw (2019).
