From the free encyclopedia Wikipedia. Ryo Ishibashi (born July 20, 1956) is a Japanese actor and international celebrity. He is globally renowned for his roles in the classic Japanese horror films Suicide Club and Audition. In the United States, he is also well-known for playing Nakagawa in The Grudge and The Grudge 2. Ishibashi was born in Kurume, Fukuoka, Kyushu, Japan. He began his career in 1977 by forming his own group called ARB (Alexander Ragtime Band). The group made their debut in 1978 and released more than a dozen albums until they disbanded in 1990. Recently, Ishibashi has continued his musical activities and reformed ARB with the release of an album titled Real Life in 1998. In 1986, Ishibashi made his film debut with the movie A-Hômansu, whose theme song was used for ARB's 13th single, "After 45." Focusing on acting, he continued his career and appeared in many films outside his home country of Japan, becoming an internationally recognized celebrity. He won the Best Actor award at the 11th Yokohama Film Festival for his role in A Sign Days. Ishibashi has been married to Mieko Harada since 1987 and is the father of three children.
