Biography
Bradley Charles Cooper was born on January 5, 1975, in Abington Township, Pennsylvania, USA. The son of an Italian mother and an Irish father, Cooper completed his education by studying English Language and Literature at Georgetown University before earning a master's degree in acting from the prestigious Actors Studio Drama School in New York. He began his acting career in 1999 as a guest star on the popular series "Sex and the City," taking his first step into cinema with the film "Wet Hot American Summer" (2001). His first notable leading role was that of journalist Will Tippin in the spy series "Alias" (2001–2006), alongside Jennifer Garner. Subsequently, he appeared in supporting roles in comedy films such as "The Wedding Crashers" (2005) and "Yes Man" (2008). However, the turning point that established Cooper as one of Hollywood's most sought-after leading actors and brought him global fame was his portrayal of Phil Wenneck in Todd Phillips' box-office record-breaking hit comedy "The Hangover" (2009).
The actor, whose popularity was further enhanced by the sequels to the series (2011 and 2013), turned his attention to projects that would demonstrate his dramatic abilities, thereby not limiting his career solely to comedy. The 2010s became Cooper's golden age, filled with critical acclaim and Academy Award nominations. He earned his first Oscar nomination for Best Actor for his performance in "Silver Linings Playbook" (2012), directed by David O. Russell. This was followed by "American Hustle" (2013) and Clint Eastwood's film "American Sniper" (2014), in which he played the legendary sharpshooter Chris Kyle and also served as a producer, earning consecutive acting nominations for these films. During this same period, he joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe, delivering an iconic voice performance as the character Rocket Raccoon in the "Guardians of the Galaxy" series and the "Avengers" films. The year 2018 represented a brand-new dimension in Cooper's career with the release of "A Star Is Born" (2018), his directorial debut, a romantic musical drama sharing the lead role with Lady Gaga.
While the film achieved extraordinary box office and critical success, the song "Shallow," which Cooper provided the voice for, topped global charts and earned him significant prestige in the musical field. He continued to showcase his talents as a director, writer, and producer with "Maestro" (2023), a film about the life of legendary composer and orchestra conductor Leonard Bernstein. With his extraordinary vision both on and behind the camera, an acting range expanding from drama to comedy, and musical abilities, Bradley Cooper has firmly established his place in the industry as one of the most respected, versatile, and prolific filmmakers of his generation.
