Biography
Chen Tang was born on July 18, 1988, in Kobe, Japan.
Born to a Chinese citizen family in Japan, Tang spent part of his childhood in Guangxi, China, and his youth in Memphis, Tennessee, USA; thanks to this multicultural background, he is fluent in both English and Mandarin Chinese at native-level proficiency.
The actor, who studied Business and Theatre at the University of Miami, began his career with various advertising and theatre projects in New York and Los Angeles.
He took his first steps in the television world with minor roles in productions such as "30 Rock" and "Delocated."
Later, he gained experience by appearing as a guest actor in popular series including "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." (2015), "Grey's Anatomy" (2017), and "Bosch" (2018).
However, Chen Tang's first major breakthrough in his career came with the film "Mulan" (2020), a high-budget live-action adaptation of Disney's 1998 classic animated feature.
In this film, he portrayed Yao, one of the main character's loyal swordsmen, who possesses a soft heart beneath his tough exterior, thereby gaining international recognition.
Immediately following his success in *Mulan*, he took on the most defining and popular role of his career. He joined the main cast of the action-drama series *Warrior* (2020), a show inspired by original notes from martial arts legend Bruce Lee. The character "Hong" he portrayed quickly became a favorite among viewers thanks to his eccentric style of dress, relaxed demeanor, use of a chain necklace as a weapon, and lethal fighting skills. In this role, Tang successfully demonstrated both his comedic timing and his mastery in physical action scenes. More recently, he continued to showcase his dramatic talents across different genres by appearing in the psychological thriller series *Dead Ringers* (2023), starring Rachel Weisz.
