Jason Statham

Jason Statham was born on July 26, 1967, in Shirebrook, Derbyshire, England. Contrary to popular belief, during his youth Statham pursued professional sports before acting and was a member of the British National Diving Team for 12 years, representing his country at the 1990 Commonwealth Games. Alongside his sporting career, he engaged in martial arts from a young age and also worked as a model. While working for brands such as French Connection, he was discovered by director Guy Ritchie, which unexpectedly launched him into the film industry. His career began with Guy Ritchie's cult films. Influenced by Statham's past experience selling market goods, Ritchie cast him in his first role in Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998). With the character 'Bacon' in this film, Statham made a striking impression and immediately followed it up with another success as 'Turkish' in Snatch (2000), also directed by Ritchie. These two films quickly established Statham as a recognizable face and attracted Hollywood's attention.

Statham's transformation into a global action star occurred with the 2002 film The Transporter. In this film, starring in the lead role as Frank Martin, he created his unique image of a tough, charismatic, and physically capable action hero, achieving significant box office success and leading to the production of two sequels (The Transporter 2 - 2005, The Transporter 3 - 2008). Statham's refusal to use stunt doubles in most of his dangerous scenes made him a sought-after name for films of this genre. He solidified his place in the action genre with films such as The Italian Job (2003) and the high-energy Crank (2006). Throughout his career, he has been an important part of many successful action franchises. He appeared as Lee Christmas in The Expendables franchise led by Sylvester Stallone; he starred in The Mechanic and the Meg series. However, one of the most significant steps that made him one of today's most popular action stars was joining the Fast & Furious franchise as Deckard Shaw.

After portraying the main villain in Fast & Furious 7 (2015), he transformed into one of the series' beloved anti-heroes and even shared the lead role in its own spin-off, Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw (2019).
Statham's performances extend beyond pure action; he has received critical acclaim for his roles in thrillers such as The Bank Job (2008) and particularly for his comedic performance in Spy (2015), showcasing different facets of his talent.
He reunited with Guy Ritchie for films like Wrath of Man (2021) and Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre (2023), while maintaining his box-office power with releases such as The Beekeeper (2024).
