Biography
Jeremy Renner was born on January 7, 1971, in Modesto, California.
As the eldest of seven children to parents who owned a bowling alley, Renner grew up in a complex family structure.
While studying computer science and criminology at Modesto Junior College, his life took a new direction through an elective drama course, igniting his passion for acting.
In 1993, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue his dreams, working as a makeup artist during the early years of his career to support himself.
Although he experienced his first film role in the 1995 comedy *National Lampoon's Senior Trip*, he appeared primarily as a guest actor in television series for an extended period.
The first major breakthrough in Renner's career came with the independent film *Dahmer* (2002), in which he portrayed the notorious serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer.
He successfully navigated this challenging role and was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award.
However, it was Kathryn Bigelow's war thriller *The Hurt Locker* (2008) that established him among Hollywood's most respected actors and brought him international recognition.
In this film, William James' performance as a bomb disposal expert earned him his first Oscar nomination for Best Actor. This achievement was followed by his role as Jem Coughlin in Ben Affleck's crime drama "The Town" (2010), for which he received his second Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. The 2010s marked a period where Renner maintained his dramatic depth while becoming an indispensable face in high-budget action franchises. Entering the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) with "Thor" (2011), the actor played a pivotal role as master archer Clint Barton / Hawkeye in "The Avengers" (2012) and subsequent sequels, before appearing to fans in his own solo series "Hawkeye" in 2021. During this same period, he appeared alongside Tom Cruise in the "Mission: Impossible" films "Ghost Protocol" (2011) and "Rogue Nation" (2015), and took over the lead role of the "Bourne" series from Matt Damon in "The Bourne Legacy" (2012).
Beyond his action star persona, Renner garnered acclaim for performances in critically praised films such as "The Informant" (2013), the science fiction drama "Arrival" (2016), and the modern western classic "Wind River" (2017). In the television world, he demonstrated a commanding presence with his role as Mike McLusky in the series "Mayor of Kingstown" (2021–present). Renner is also a talented musician; in addition to acting, he plays guitar, keyboards, and drums, and has released albums such as "The Medicine" (2020). On January 1, 2023, Renner suffered a serious accident in front of his home while attempting to rescue his niece from under a seven-ton snowplow, resulting in more than 30 broken bones and life-threatening injuries; however, he successfully returned to the sets thanks to a miraculous recovery process.

Jeremy Renner stands out as one of the most versatile and consistent actors in cinema history. His journey began with courage in dark psychological roles such as Jeffrey Dahmer, and evolved over time as he mastered action and drama genres that appeal to a broader audience. His Oscar nomination for his performance in "The Bourne Identity" demonstrated not only his physical prowess but also his ability to delve deeply into a character's internal trauma and moral dilemmas. This transition highlights Renner's commitment to avoiding typecasting, instead exploring the depths of different human psychologies in every role. Upon examining his known works, it becomes evident that Renner did not limit himself to big-budget superhero films; rather, he elevated the genre by portraying Hawkeye, one of the most emotional and human characters in the Marvel universe. However, it should not be forgotten that Renner's talents extend beyond visual effects, as he delivered compelling supporting performances in both leading and significant supporting roles in films with local narratives such as "The Town."
Renner's greatest strength lies in his ability to maintain the character's simplicity without distracting the audience, while delivering the emotional intensity required by complex scripts with a natural flow.
