Biography

Luke Hemsworth was born on November 5, 1980, in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The eldest son of English teacher Leonie and social services counselor Craig Hemsworth, Luke is the first representative of the Hemsworth family in the entertainment world, alongside his actor brothers Chris Hemsworth and Liam Hemsworth. After completing his acting training at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA), Hemsworth launched his career in 2001 with the role of Nathan Tyson in the renowned Australian series "Neighbours". In the early years of his career, Hemsworth established a solid presence on Australian television, appearing in series such as "The Saddle Club", "Blue Heelers", "Last Man Standing", "All Saints", and "Satisfaction". In 2012, he garnered attention for his portrayal of Gregory "Shadow" Campbell in the mini-series "Bikie Wars: Brothers in Arms". However, unlike his brothers' rapid ascent in Hollywood, Luke took a break from acting for a period to establish his own tiling business and support his family through trade. This period laid the groundwork for his more determined and mature return to the industry.

Luke Hemsworth's true international breakthrough and recognition by a wide audience came with HBO's highly acclaimed science fiction series "Westworld" (2016–2022). In the series, the actor who portrayed Ashley Stubbs, the park's security chief, demonstrated both his dramatic and action-oriented talents through this role, securing a lasting place in American television. His performance in "Westworld" proved that he was not merely "the older brother of the Hemsworth brothers," but also a skilled character actor. In his film career, Hemsworth appeared in various genres, including films such as "Kill Me Three Times" (2014), "Infini" (2015), and "The Anomaly" (2014). He starred in the lead role of the 2017 western film "Hickok," portraying the legendary gunslinger Wild Bill Hickok. Additionally, he appeared in thrillers and action-heavy productions such as "River Runs Red" (2018), "Crypto" (2019), and "Death of Me" (2020). In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he delighted audiences with a fun surprise, making cameo appearances in "Thor: Ragnarok" (2017) and "Thor: Love and Thunder" (2022), where his brother Chris starred, playing an actor portraying Thor on stage in a theatrical scene.

In recent years, Hemsworth has accelerated his career momentum, earning praise for his performance in "Bosch & Rockit" (2022) and starring in Taika Waititi's "Next Goal Wins" (2023). In 2024, he appeared alongside his brother Liam in the film "Land of Bad" and further solidified his identity as an action star with a role in "Gunner" (2024). Among his upcoming projects are Amazon Prime's popular series "The Terminal List: Dark Wolf" (2025) and the second season of the Australian dark comedy series "Deadloch" (2025). Married to Samantha Hemsworth, Luke Hemsworth is a father of four and continues to work actively on both Australian and American productions.
