Thomas Mark Harmon was born on September 2, 1951, in Burbank, California, USA.

In his youth, following in his father's footsteps, Harmon turned to sports and gained attention as a successful quarterback for the UCLA team, leading it during the 1972–1973 seasons.
His athletic talents and discipline would later find reflection in his acting career.
After his sports career, Mark Harmon transitioned into acting, making his debut in the 1970s with small roles in television series and films.
He gained experience through appearances in productions such as "Ozzie's Girls," "Emergency!," and "Adam-12."
By the 1980s, he experienced a significant rise in his career.
In particular, between 1983 and 1986, he became widely known to broad audiences and won critical acclaim for his role as Dr. Robert Caldwell in the medical drama "St. Elsewhere," earning an Emmy nomination.
During this period, he also appeared as a guest star in popular series such as "Moonlighting" and made his mark in cinema with films like "Summer School" (1987). With his charisma and talent, Harmon was selected by People magazine in 1986 as "Sexiest Man Alive." However, the role that turned Mark Harmon into a global icon and is considered the peak of his career began in 2003 and became one of the longest-running and most successful productions in television history: "NCIS." The character of Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs portrayed in the series "NCIS" marked a turning point in Harmon's career. Gibbs' profile as a taciturn, determined, principled leader, along with his unique rules and loyalty to his team, was met with great love and respect by viewers.
