Mystery Eyes

As a dramatic drama reflecting the turbulent life of Müslüm Gürses, the director presents the character's inner world with a shocking reality. As he edits the scenes as a photo album, light and shadow plays in each frame create an atmosphere parallel to the artist's emotional collapse. The visual language is integrated into music and drags the audience into the streets of Istanbul of 1990. Acting performances are the most prominent strength in the film; the leading player presents Georgia's charisma in front of the stage and the vulnerability behind the stage with a fine balance. The supporting staff, particularly the natural dialogues of a young journalist, add a fresh breath to the story's chronic flow. Even though the script is heavy in some moments, the periodal dialogues and background stories increase character depth. The camera movement, especially the hand camera used in the narrow street scenes, brings the audience to the center of the events. Film music re-interprets Georgian original songs with a modern arrangement, creating an emotional connection. The final scene is designed to make a long-term echo in the audience; however, it is a question of interpretation from the film.
