In the film, which passed in 2017, energy sources have run out and hunger has begun to spread across the world. The government uses television to prevent possible strikes and suppress its opponents. Citizens are made to watch a show called "The Running Man" every night on television to keep them numb. After Ben Richards, who was arrested for refusing to kill innocent people, escapes from prison, he is captured by a young woman named Amber. Television producers, influenced by Richards' physique, decide to put him on the show. If Ben wants to live, he must escape from those pursuing him. The millions of viewers watching from the beginning of the television are eagerly waiting for his death.
