After receiving acting training at The George Brown School of Theatre, Abrams embarked on his career as a versatile character actor, writer, and director recognized both in Canada and Hollywood. In the early stages of his career, he garnered attention with supporting roles in Canadian television series such as "Slings & Arrows" and films like "Cinderella Man" (2005). Throughout his career, he has taken on significant roles in television series such as "Rookie Blue" and "Blindspot." However, the role that made Aaron Abrams most widely known to international audiences was that of Brian Zeller, a smart, witty, and sarcastic forensic investigator, in Bryan Fuller's cult series "Hannibal" (2013-2015). His performance in the series alongside actors such as Hugh Dancy and Caroline Dhavernas established him as one of the show's favorite character actors among its devoted fan base.

In recent years, Abrams has focused more on his directing career, achieving significant success after helming independent films such as "The Go-Getters" (2018) and "Nose to Tail" (2019).
