Corey Daniel Stoll was born on March 14, 1976, in the Upper West Side of New York City. Growing up in a Jewish family in New York, Stoll completed his high school education at Fiorello H. He subsequently pursued graduate studies in acting at the prestigious NYU Tisch School of the Arts, further honing his craft in the performing arts. In the early stages of his career, primarily active on stage, Stoll garnered critical attention with his performance in "Intimate Apparel" (2004), a play he starred in alongside Viola Davis, which earned him a Drama Desk Award nomination. However, the project that introduced him to a wide audience was Woody Allen's film "Midnight in Paris" (2011).

The turning point in Stoll's career and the role that brought him global recognition came with Netflix's first major original series, "House of Cards" (2013). In the show's first season, Stoll played Congressman Peter Russo, a character struggling with alcohol and drug addiction, earning a Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his profound and tragic performance. Following this success, he took on the lead role as Dr. Ephraim Goodweather in Guillermo del Toro's horror-drama series "The Strain" (2014–2017). In the cinematic world, Stoll entered the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the main villain Darren Cross / Yellowjacket in "Ant-Man" (2015). Proving his versatility as a character actor, Stoll frequently appeared in biographical films; he portrayed prosecutor Fred Wyshak in "Black Mass" (2015) and astronaut Buzz Aldrin in Damien Chazelle's "First Man" (2018).
In "The Many Saints of Newark" (2021), the prequel film to "The Sopranos," Corey Stoll brought new life to an iconic character by portraying young Corrado "Junior" Soprano.
