Matchbox the Movie (2026)

The film delivers an experience that never strays from its path, utilizing a formulaic spy comedy style as anticipated. Sam Hargrave's choreography and kinetic camera work impart flexibility through practical and grounded action sequences, contrasting with the majority of the genre. John Cena performs stunts himself, showcasing a performance that improves with each iteration, while the genuine chemistry among the cast is notable. Despite the characters' superficiality, the theme of friendship woven around these small vehicles offers viewers an easy opportunity to connect. The film strikes a balanced tone that is both excessively entertaining and far from overly serious, fully meeting genre expectations.
