Biography

Daniel Bernhardt was born on August 31, 1965, in Worblaufen, Switzerland.
At a young age, Bernhardt began training in martial arts with his brother, focusing particularly on Kung Fu. After honing his discipline and skills in this field, he opened his own martial arts school in Zurich.
Shortly thereafter, he moved to Paris to give his career a new direction and embarked on a successful modeling career.
A turning point in his acting career came when he was discovered by producer Mark DiSalle.
While searching for a new face for the sequel to the cult action film starring Jean-Claude Van Damme, "Bloodsport II: The Next Kumite" (1996), DiSalle was impressed by Bernhardt's physical abilities and charisma.
This role made him one of the sought-after faces in 1990s direct-to-video action films, and he also starred in the series' subsequent entries, "Bloodsport III" (1997) and "Bloodsport IV: The Final Showdown" (1999).
During this period, he appeared in numerous other action films such as "Future War" (1997) and "True Vengeance" (1997).

The role that brought Bernhardt's career to mainstream cinema and earned her global recognition was Agent Johnson in "The Matrix Reloaded" (2003), directed by the Wachowskis. Following this film, Bernhardt began to stand out not only as an actress but also as one of Hollywood's most talented fight choreographers and stunt performers. She frequently collaborated with 87Eleven Action Design, a team founded by "John Wick" series directors Chad Stahelski and David Leitch. Thanks to this collaboration, she brought unforgettable characters to life in front of the camera and contributed to the design of fight scenes behind the camera in some of the most iconic works of modern action cinema. Her role as Kirill in "John Wick" (2014), alongside her performances in high-profile films such as "Atomic Blonde" (2017), "Logan" (2017), "Birds of Prey" (2020), "Nobody" (2021), and "Extraction 2" (2023), solidified her indispensable place in the action genre. Bernhardt continues her career as one of the most respected and hardworking figures in action cinema, combining her mastery of martial arts with her acting skills.
