McGregor's first major breakthrough came thanks to a successful collaboration with director Danny Boyle.
The actor captured attention with the film "Shallow Grave" (1994) and gained his true global fame by portraying the heroin addict Mark Renton in the cult film "Trainspotting" (1996), directed by Boyle and adapted from a novel by Irvine Welsh.
This role positioned him as one of the most exciting English actors of his time.
Following his success in independent cinema, McGregor embarked on one of the greatest franchises in cinematic history.

Recognized as a versatile actor, McGregor appeared in productions across diverse genres, including Tim Burton's "Big Fish" (2003), the action film "The Island" (2005), Woody Allen's "Cassandra's Dream" (2007), and the disaster film "The Impossible" (2012).
