Biography

Andrew James Matfin Bell was born on 14 March 1986 in Billingham, County Durham, England.
Bell, from a dancing family, shared an interest in dance with his grandmother, mother, aunt, and sister.
Raised by his mother after his father left the home before his birth, Bell began taking ballet lessons at the age of six.
Although he faced bullying from schoolmates due to his passion for dance, this did not deter him; instead, it strengthened his determination.
While pursuing training in Performing Arts, he turned towards acting, and this passion led him on a path that would bring him worldwide fame at a young age.
The turning point that changed Jamie Bell's life and career was the 2000 film "Billy Elliot" directed by Stephen Daldry.
Selected from over 2,000 candidates, the film tells the story of a child who wants to become a ballerino during miners' strikes in northern England.
His extraordinary performance in this film earned him the BAFTA Award for Best Actor at just 14 years old; he became one of the youngest winners in this category, surpassing notable names such as Russell Crowe and Tom Hanks.

Bell, shedding her child star label to embark on a successful adult career, appeared in productions such as "Deathwatch" (2002) and "Nicholas Nickleby" (2002) throughout the 2000s. She solidified her place in Hollywood with her role as Jimmy in Peter Jackson's "King Kong" (2005) and her performance in Clint Eastwood's "Flags of Our Fathers" (2006). Bell demonstrated her prowess in both action and drama genres through the science fiction action film "Jumper" (2008) and the World War II drama "Defiance" (2008), in which she starred alongside Daniel Craig. In 2011, she brought the iconic character of Tintin to life in Steven Spielberg's motion capture film "The Adventures of Tintin." That same year, she appeared as St. John Rivers in an adaptation of "Jane Eyre." She continued her success in independent and international cinema with her role as Edgar in Bong Joon-ho's dystopian masterpiece "Snowpiercer" (2013) and her performance in "Filth" (2013).

In the world of television, he garnered acclaim for four seasons portraying Abraham Woodhull in the American Revolutionary War-themed series "Turn: Washington's Spies" (2014–2017). In the 2015 film "Fantastic Four," Bell played Ben Grimm, where he met his future wife, Kate Mara. In recent years, this actor has stood out in biographical productions; he was once again nominated for a BAFTA for his role as Peter Turner, Gloria Grahame's lover, in the 2017 film "Film Stars Don't Die in Liverpool." In the 2019 Elton John biopic "Rocketman," he portrayed the renowned lyricist Bernie Taupin and received perfect scores from critics. He continues his career with steady success through both independent films and major productions.
