Biography
Joseph Anthony Francis Quinn was born on February 15, 1994, in London, England.
Quinn spent his childhood years in South London and completed his acting training at the prestigious London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA), from which he graduated in 2015.
Immediately after his education, he made a strong start to his professional career by taking on roles both on stage and in British television.
In the early years of his career, he gained attention with appearances in numerous period dramas such as "Dickensian" (2016), "Howards End" (2017), "Les Misérables" (2018), and "Catherine the Great" (2019), in which he played alongside Helen Mirren.
Through his roles in these projects, he demonstrated the value of his classical training, proving both his talent and versatility; however, his international recognition remained limited at that time.
The role that transformed Joseph Quinn into a global phenomenon and marked a turning point in his career was Eddie Munson, which he portrayed in the fourth season of Netflix's hit series "Stranger Things," released in 2022.
Eddie, leader of the Hellfire Club, a metal music enthusiast and master of Dungeons & Dragons, instantly became a favorite with audiences thanks to Quinn's charismatic, energetic, and heartfelt performance.
The scene in which Quinn performed Metallica's "Master of Puppets" became an iconic moment in popular culture. Despite appearing for only one season, the immense impact he made instantly established him as one of the most talked-about young actors in the world. Following his breakout success with "Stranger Things," Quinn became one of Hollywood's most sought-after talents and elevated his career to new heights through cinema films. In 2024, he proved his status as a film star by taking on one of the lead roles in "A Quiet Place: Day One," a prequel to the popular horror franchise. Later that same year, he appeared before audiences as Emperor Caracalla in Ridley Scott's eagerly anticipated historical epic "Gladiator II." Reinforcing his career ascent with this major project, Joseph Quinn portrayed Johnny Storm / Human Torch in "The Fantastic Four: First Steps," one of the most anticipated films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, set for release in 2025. This role is regarded as one of the most significant steps solidifying his leading-man status in Hollywood.
