Biography

Keiynan Lonsdale was born on December 19, 1991, in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The son of a Nigerian father and a mother of Australian, Irish, and Danish descent, Lonsdale discovered his passion for music and dance at a young age. This talented individual began his career as a VJ on MTV Australia before making his major debut in the acting world with the beloved Australian youth series "Dance Academy" (2012–2013), where he portrayed the dance student Ollie Lloyd. This role allowed him to showcase both his acting and dancing talents to a wide audience. His entry into international cinema came through the sequels to the popular dystopian science fiction series "Divergent": "Insurgent" (2015) and "Allegiant" (2016). In these films, he brought to life the character of Uriah Pedrad, a brave member of Dauntless, successfully capturing the attention of Hollywood producers.

However, the role that brought Keiynan Lonsdale to a global, wide-ranging, and loyal fan base was Wally West, also known as Kid Flash, in The CW's hit superhero series "The Flash" (2015–2020) and its expanded Arrowverse universe. Successfully bringing the character's dynamic and youthful energy to the screen, Lonsdale became one of modern television's beloved superheroes. One of the most significant turning points in his film career was the groundbreaking youth romantic comedy "Love, Simon" (2018). For his portrayal of Bram Greenfeld in the film, he received widespread acclaim from both critics and audiences, earning him the MTV Movie & TV Award for Best Kiss. Later, Lonsdale combined his comedic talents with physical prowess in the Netflix youth dance film "Work It" (2020), playing the arrogant and talented dancer Julliard Pembroke. In recent years, he continued his colorful journey on screen with projects such as Prime Video's romantic comedy "My Fake Boyfriend" (2022) and "Step Up: High Water" (2022).

In addition to his acting career, Lonsdale is a passionate musician who writes and performs his own songs. In 2020, he released his debut studio album "Rainbow Boy," featuring R&B, pop, and soul influences, marking a bold move in the music world. This versatile star, a powerful and inspiring advocate for LGBTQ+ rights, continues to be an important figure for the younger generation by proudly reflecting his identity both in his art and personal life.
