Biography

William John "Liam" Neeson was born on June 7, 1952, in Ballymena, Northern Ireland.
In his youth, interested in boxing and who pursued amateur boxing for a period, Neeson also performed in the school theatre.
Although he began studying physics and computer science at Queen's University in Belfast, his passion for acting prevailed; he left his education midway and joined the Lyric Players' Theatre in Belfast.
After two years of training, he appeared on stage at the prestigious Abbey Theatre in Dublin, gaining experience in classical plays.
He launched his film career when director John Boorman noticed him at the Abbey Theatre.
In the 1981 film "Excalibur," directed by Boorman, he portrayed Sir Gawain and attracted attention.
Following this role, he appeared in supporting roles alongside master actors such as Mel Gibson, Robert De Niro, and Anthony Hopkins in films like "The Bounty" (1984), "The Mission" (1986), and "A Prayer for the Dying" (1987).
In 1987, he moved to Hollywood to continue his career.
The role that transformed Liam Neeson into a global superstar and marked the turning point of his career was in Steven Spielberg's 1993 film "Schindler's List."

With his extraordinary performance in this film portraying Nazi Party member and industrialist Oskar Schindler, who saved the lives of more than 1,200 Jews, he garnered widespread acclaim and was nominated for an Academy Award (Oscar), Golden Globe, and BAFTA for Best Actor. Following "Schindler's List," he starred in significant productions such as portraying Irish revolutionary leader Michael Collins in "Michael Collins" (1996), Jean Valjean in Victor Hugo's classic "Les Misérables" (1998), and Qui-Gon Jinn in George Lucas' legendary series "Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace" (1999). Additionally, he demonstrated his versatility in drama and romantic comedy through films like "Gangs of New York" (2002) and "Love Actually" (2003). The 2008 French action-thriller "Taken" opened a completely new chapter in Neeson's career. Portraying a retired CIA agent, the film achieved unexpected box office success, transforming him into an international action star in his mid-50s.

Following this film, he became one of the most recognized and sought-after faces in modern action cinema with films such as "The A-Team" (2010), "Unknown" (2011), "The Grey" (2012), and "Non-Stop" (2014).
