Nicole Kidman

Nicole Mary Kidman was born on June 20, 1967, in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA.
Kidman, the daughter of an Australian family, was born in Hawaii while her father was there on an educational visa.
Her family returned to Australia when she was four years old, and Kidman grew up in Sydney.
Consequently, she holds both Australian and American citizenship.
After receiving training in ballet and theatre at a young age, Kidman discovered her passion for acting.
She began her professional career in 1983 with Australian productions such as "Bush Christmas" and "BMX Bandits".
After gaining recognition in her home country through miniseries like "Vietnam" (1987), she achieved her major international breakthrough with the high-tension thriller "Dead Calm" (1989), in which she shared leading roles with Sam Neill.
This role captured Hollywood's attention.
Her transition to Hollywood came with "Days of Thunder" (1990), in which she starred alongside her then-husband, Tom Cruise.
Throughout the 1990s, although she appeared in big-budget films such as "Far and Away" (1992) and "Batman Forever" (1995), it was her portrayal of a ruthless and ambitious television presenter in Gus Van Sant's dark comedy "To Die For" (1995) that earned her widespread critical acclaim and her first Golden Globe Award.

During this period, she also expanded her acting range by taking roles in ambitious artistic productions such as "The Portrait of a Lady" (1996) and Stanley Kubrick's final film, "Eyes Wide Shut" (1999). However, the era that transformed Nicole Kidman into a global superstar and an Oscar-winning actress was the early 2000s. She earned her first Academy Award nomination with Baz Luhrmann's lavish musical "Moulin Rouge!" in 2001. In the same year, she achieved significant box office success with Alejandro Amenábar's gothic horror film "The Others" (2001). Just one year later, she won the Academy Award for Best Actress (Oscar) for her portrayal of author Virginia Woolf in "The Hours" (2002). Throughout her career, she did not shy away from taking bold and unconventional roles in films such as "Dogville" (2003), "Cold Mountain" (2003), and "Birth" (Birth) (2004). She was nominated for an Oscar again with "Rabbit Hole" (2010) and "Lion" (2016). In the late 2010s, Kidman conquered television as well, reaching a new peak in her career.

She also served as a producer on the HBO series "Big Little Lies" (2017–2019), which she created alongside Reese Witherspoon, earning both critical acclaim and numerous awards, including Emmys and Golden Globes. She sustained this success with popular miniseries such as "The Undoing" (2020) and "Nine Perfect Strangers" (2021). In film, she received another Oscar nomination for her portrayal of Lucille Ball in "Being the Ricardos" (2021). Beyond acting, she is the founder of Blossom Films, her own production company, and has served as a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador for Women for many years.
