Story
Cold, rain, and fog surround a factory in Ravenna. The factory's waste is polluting the nearby lakes. Ugo, the factory manager's wife, Guiliana, a housewife, is psychologically distressed but conceals her condition from her husband as much as possible. She meets Zeller, an engineer traveling to Patagonia. They attend a dinner filled with erotic games; afterward, while Ugo is away on business, Guiliana suspects that her son has been stricken by cerebral palsy. However, upon realizing she fabricated her son's illness, overcome by panic at the thought of being unneeded, she approaches Zeller.
