Henry William Dalgliesh Cavill was born on May 5, 1983, in Jersey, Channel Islands, a Crown Dependency of the United Kingdom. While studying at Stowe School in England, he developed an interest in acting by taking roles in school plays. During his school years, he even had the opportunity to meet actor Russell Crowe, who was filming nearby, and the advice he received from him strengthened his ambition to become an actor. Cavill began his professional acting career with the 2001 film Laguna and soon afterward gained attention for his role as Albert Mondego in The Count of Monte Cristo (2002). In the early years of his career, he also appeared in British television series such as The Inspector Lynley Mysteries and Midsomer Murders. His international recognition increased significantly with his role in Showtime's popular historical drama The Tudors (2007–2010). The character he portrayed, Charles Brandon, showcased his charisma and potential for leading roles to a wide audience. Subsequently, he further solidified his place in Hollywood by appearing in films such as Stardust (2007) and Immortals: War of Gods (2011).

Cavill's most significant career turning point came with his portrayal of Clark Kent / Superman in Zack Snyder's Man of Steel (2013).
His embodiment of this iconic character transformed him into a global superstar.
As one of the foundational figures of the DC Extended Universe (DCEU), Cavill reprised the role of Superman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) and Justice League (2017 / Snyder Cut 2021).

Following his portrayal of Superman, Cavill continued to diversify his career with successful and varied projects.
In Guy Ritchie's stylish spy film The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (2015), he played Napoleon Solo, and in Mission: Impossible – Fallout (2018), he portrayed August Walker, thereby demonstrating both his action prowess and ability to embody diverse characters.
However, the project that re-established him as a global phenomenon was Netflix's popular fantasy series The Witcher (2019–2023).

In this series, his portrayal of Geralt of Rivia garnered significant acclaim, particularly for his dedication to the source material and his physical performance. Additionally, he brought Sherlock Holmes to life in the films Enola Holmes (2020, 2022).
