Biography

Jacob Basil Anderson was born on 18 June 1990 in Bristol, England.
Born to an Afro-Caribbean father and an English mother, Anderson is a versatile talent known not only for his acting but also for his successful music career pursued under the stage name Raleigh Ritchie.
Moving to London at the age of 17 to focus on his career, he appeared as a guest actor in popular British television series such as "Skins", "Casualty", and "Silent Witness" during his early years.
He made his serious debut in cinema with the role of Omen in the English youth crime drama "Adulthood" (2008).
He subsequently appeared in horror-thriller films such as "Chatroom" (2010) and "Comedown" (2012).
His lasting presence on television was established through his portrayal of Dean Thomas in the first season of ITV's award-winning crime drama "Broadchurch" (2013).
However, the project that propelled Jacob Anderson to global fame and made him a part of popular culture was HBO's phenomenon series "Game of Thrones".
In 2013, he joined the cast in the third season of the series as Grey Worm.

As commander of the Unsullied army, composed of castrated elite soldiers, he portrayed one of Daenerys Targaryen's most loyal generals. Initially presented as an emotionless war machine, the character left a profound impact on audiences thanks to Anderson's nuanced acting, particularly through his tragic love story with Missandei and his journey of rediscovering human emotions. He remained part of the main cast until the series finale in 2019, gaining worldwide recognition. Following "Game of Thrones," Anderson ventured into the sci-fi world, playing the character Vinder in season 13 ("Flux") and special episodes of the long-running "Doctor Who" series. However, his second major career peak and lead performance came with the AMC series "Interview with the Vampire" (2022), adapted from a novel by Anne Rice. In the 1994 film, Anderson took over the iconic role of Louis de Pointe du Lac, portrayed by Brad Pitt, reinterpreting the character as a Black man in early 20th-century New Orleans.

Sam Reid's portrayal of Lestat, coupled with his ability to capture the existential anguish of the character, earned him praise from critics and established him as one of the key figures in modern gothic horror. Beyond acting, Raleigh Ritchie, an artist who performs music in the alternative R&B and trip-hop genres, released studio albums titled "You're a Man Now, Boy" (2016) and "Andy" (2020), receiving full marks from music critics for their emotionally resonant lyrics. In his personal life, Jacob Anderson, who is married to actress Aisling Loftus, is the father of a daughter.
