Biography
Tudor St.
John "Jamie" Harris was born on 15 May 1963 in London, England.
Jamie Harris, the youngest of three sons of the legendary Irish actor Richard Harris and Elizabeth Rees-Williams, followed his father's footsteps like his older brother Jared Harris to pursue an acting career.
Despite growing up in a family immersed in the arts, he initially turned to music during his youth but eventually settled on stage arts, following the family tradition.
After completing his education, he moved to New York, where he received acting training and began his career in American theatre and independent films.
He made his first serious breakthrough in cinema with the role of Deptford Jim in "In the Name of the Father" (1993), directed by Jim Sheridan and starring Daniel Day-Lewis, a film praised by critics.
His father, Richard Harris, also appeared in the film, but in different scenes.
During the 1990s and early 2000s, he took on supporting roles in films such as "Made Men" (1999) and "Dinner Rush" (2000).
However, he was recognized by a wide audience for his role as "The Hook-Handed Man" in Jim Carrey's lead performance in the film "Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events" (2004). His physical performance and comedic timing in this film were particularly noteworthy. Jamie Harris established himself as a versatile character actor, both in cinema and on television. He appeared as Rodney in Terrence Malick's "The New World" (2005) and in "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" (2011). In the realm of television, he portrayed Nicky Grillo in Starz's period drama "Magic City" (2012–2013). However, his most memorable role for science fiction and comic book fans was Gordon, the eyeless Inhuman character in Marvel's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." (2014–2015). This role demonstrated his ability to portray complex characters requiring makeup and special effects. In the later stages of his career, he gained prominence for his portrayal of Sergeant Dombey in Amazon Prime's fantasy series "Carnival Row" (2019–2023). Initially a recurring character, his performance earned him a place in the main cast for the second season.
Additionally, he brought to life the iconic character of Sergeant Krupke in Steven Spielberg's musical adaptation "West Side Story" (2021). Jamie Harris is an actor known for his ability to portray tough, eccentric, or authoritative characters and for his unique screen charisma; he successfully carries on the artistic legacy of the Harris family.
