Karan Soni

Karan Soni was born on January 8, 1989, in New Delhi, India.
Driven by a passion for acting from a young age, Soni completed his high school education in India before moving to the United States of America for higher education.
He enrolled at the University of Southern California (USC) and studied in the College of Business Administration.
During his university years, he continued taking acting classes and honing his skills.
He began his career in the early 2010s with small roles in television commercials and series such as "The Protector" (2011).
His first major breakthrough came with the 2012 independent comedy film "Safety Not Included".
Notable for his performance in that film, he subsequently joined the main cast of Amazon Studios' original series "Betas" (2013–2014).
During this period, he also appeared in various comedy series such as "The Neighbors," "Other Space," and "Blunt Talk."
However, the role that propelled Karan Soni to global fame and marked a turning point in his career was his part in the 2016 Marvel film "Deadpool."

In the film, Soni portrayed the character of Dopinder, a kind and humorous taxi driver and reluctant assistant to Ryan Reynolds' character Wade Wilson. Soni successfully reprised this iconic role in "Deadpool 2" (2018) and "Deadpool & Wolverine" (2024), becoming an integral and beloved part of the series. Following the success brought by the "Deadpool" franchise, Soni strengthened his presence on television. He joined the main cast of the anthology comedy series "Miracle Workers", which began in 2019 and starred Daniel Radcliffe and Steve Buscemi. Over four seasons, he portrayed various characters in the series, further solidifying his mastery of comedic timing. Additionally, he provided voice work for "Pokémon Detective Pikachu" (2019) and appeared in comedy films such as "Always Be My Maybe" (2019). Soni continues to build his career as one of Hollywood's sought-after comedy actors, distinguished by his unique comedic style and likable on-screen persona.
