Biography
Lauren Cohan was born on January 7, 1982, in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. After spending her childhood in America, she moved to the United Kingdom with her family at the age of 13 and acquired British citizenship. This dual citizenship status has enabled her to successfully employ both American and British accents throughout her career. After studying Drama and English Literature at Winchester University, she relocated to London to focus on her acting career. In the early stages of her career, she gained recognition for recurring roles in beloved fantasy and science fiction series. She first drew attention with her portrayal of the cunning thief Bela Talbot in The CW's popular series "Supernatural" (2007–2008). Subsequently, she enhanced her reputation with her roles as Rose in "The Vampire Diaries" (2010–2012) and Vivian Volkoff in "Chuck" (2011), establishing herself as one of the sought-after faces in genre projects. However, the role that transformed Lauren Cohan into a global star was Maggie Greene in AMC's phenomenon series "The Walking Dead" (2011–2022).
Cohan, who joined the series in its second season, brilliantly portrayed Maggie's transformation from a farm girl into one of the show's strongest, most determined, and inspiring leaders following her profound losses. Although she took a hiatus from the series during its ninth season, she returned to great fanfare at the end of the tenth season and remained one of the main characters until the series finale. Following "The Walking Dead" finale, Cohan starred alongside Jeffrey Dean Morgan in the spin-off project "The Walking Dead: Dead City" (2023–present), continuing Maggie's story. The series explores Maggie confronting her past while embarking on a new survival struggle in New York. In addition to her television career, Cohan has demonstrated her versatility across different genres by starring in horror films such as "The Boy" (2016) and action-comedy series like "Whiskey Cavalier" (2019).
