Resident Evil (2002)

The film revolves around a T-virus released in an underground facility of a secret company and the supercomputer Red Queen responding to it. While maintaining an action-oriented pace, the production delves into plot details such as sealing off facility entrances at the cost of characters' deaths. It focuses solely on cinematic storytelling rather than replicating the atmosphere of the known game, thereby highlighting the tension and dynamism required by the genre. A notable divergence emerges between critics' expectations and audience perception; however, the film stands out for the physical prowess demonstrated by Milla Jovovich and Michelle Rodriguez. Upon closer inspection over time, it is observed that the horror elements lose their impact and the CGI creatures align with the standards of that era. This indicates that the original appeal of this installment was preserved to a greater extent compared to other films in the ongoing series.
