Biography

Shaun Mark Bean was born on 17 April 1959 in Sheffield, Yorkshire, England.
In his youth, Bean worked as a welder in his father's blacksmith shop before deciding to pursue art and acting.
Following this passion, he was accepted with a scholarship to the prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in London, from which he graduated in 1983.
Bean began his career in English theatre and television, gaining his true fame in his home country through the television film series "Sharpe" (1993–2008), adapted from novels by Bernard Cornwell.
In this role, portraying British soldier Richard Sharpe during the Napoleonic Wars, he became a star in England and became closely identified with the character over many years.
Entering Hollywood in the 1990s, Bean gained international recognition for portraying charismatic villains or complex characters with tragic endings.
He reinforced this image through roles such as the Irish militant in "Patriot Games" (1992), the treacherous 006 agent Alec Trevelyan in the James Bond film "GoldenEye" (1995), and Ian Howe in "National Treasure" (2004).

One of Sean Bean's most iconic roles is that of Boromir in Peter Jackson's "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring" (2001). His portrayal of Boromir, a valiant warrior from Gondor who succumbs to the power of the Ring, and the character's tragic end marked by sacrifice, secured his place among cinema history's most unforgettable moments. The role that truly cemented his status in popular culture was Lord Eddard "Ned" Stark in HBO's hit series "Game of Thrones" (2011). Despite being introduced as a central protagonist, his shocking execution at the end of the first season is regarded as a turning point in television history. Due to roles like these and others, Sean Bean has become known for frequently playing characters who die, earning him the moniker of the "Sean Bean phenomenon" on the internet. Still actively pursuing his acting career, Bean has appeared in films such as "The Martian" (2015) and series like "Snowpiercer." His performance in the BBC drama "Time" (2021) earned him a BAFTA Award for Best Actor, garnering widespread acclaim from critics.

Additionally, he has provided voiceovers for video games such as "The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion" and numerous documentaries, utilizing his distinctive Yorkshire accent and deep voice.
