Reviewed byMehmet KUL
In this production directed by Thomas Kail, the vibrant, sunlit atmosphere is replaced by the sterile green curtain, transforming the enthusiasm that once made musical scenes feel alive into a mechanical spectacle, thereby undermining the genre's fundamental aesthetics. The narrative, devoid of originality as it replicates every beat of the 2016 film, propels the audience into a nostalgia trap without ever questioning whether the story's central question is even necessary.
Pros & Cons
✔ Pros
- The live, colorful atmosphere successfully overcomes the sterile backdrop of the green curtain, captivating the audience with enthusiasm.
- Musical scenes preserve the genre's fundamental aesthetic by avoiding mechanical representation.
- Preserving the narrative's originality, it questions the story's premise without falling into a nostalgia trap.
✖ Cons
- Image composition obscures details in some scenes due to excessive brightness.
- The plot offers a clichéd journey, lacking the expected surprises.
